Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re exploring financial advisors for the first time – or starting over after a major life change – you probably have questions. That’s completely normal.

Many of the independent women we work with felt uncertain or overwhelmed when they first reached out. Some had never managed investments alone. Others were grieving, navigating divorce, or simply tired of feeling anxious about money.

We’re here to help you feel informed, confident, and supported – no matter where you’re starting from.

Here are a few of the most common questions we’re asked.

Do you specialize in working with independent women?

Yes. While we work with a variety of clients, we specialize in supporting single, divorced, and widowed women. We understand the unique financial challenges women face – whether you’re managing finances alone for the first time, rebuilding after divorce, or navigating life after the loss of a spouse. Our approach is patient, educational, and designed to help you feel confident about your financial decisions.

Is Springwater Wealth a Fiduciary Advisor?

Yes. Springwater Wealth is a fee-only fiduciary firm. Our advisors are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals, dedicated to providing objective advice that always puts your interests first. We’re legally required to act in your best interest – not ours.

I've never managed investments on my own. Will you explain things in a way I can understand?

Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about financial matters. We take the time to explain concepts clearly, answer your questions without judgment, and ensure you understand the “why” behind our recommendations. Our goal is to educate and empower you, not talk over your head.

What Does a Fee-Only Financial Advisor Charge?

At Springwater, our wealth management and investment management clients pay a fee that is based on the amount of assets we manage for them (“Assets Under Management”). As a fee-only practice, we’re compensated solely by our clients – never through commissions, referral fees, or product sales. We’re happy to walk you through our fee structure during a complimentary consultation.

What Kind of Clients Do You Typically Work With?

Our clients are people who value a trusted, fiduciary relationship with a fee-only advisor. They see the value in having a robust financial plan, and an investment strategy that is tailored to their unique needs and goals. They typically have $1 million or more managed by us, though we evaluate each situation individually.

I'm recently widowed and feeling overwhelmed. Where do I start?

We understand this is an incredibly difficult time. A complimentary consultation is a good first step – it gives us a chance to understand your situation, answer your immediate questions, and help you prioritize what needs attention now versus what can wait. There’s no pressure, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Do you work with women who are going through divorce?

Yes. Our team includes Certified Divorce Financial Analysts® (CDFA®) who can help you understand the long-term financial implications of settlement options, evaluate spousal support, divide retirement accounts properly, and build a financial foundation for your next chapter.

Do I need to meet with you in person, or can we work virtually?

We offer both options. Many clients appreciate the convenience of virtual meetings, while others prefer to meet in person – especially early in our relationship. We’re flexible and will work with you in whatever way feels most comfortable.

How Do I Get Started With Your Team?

A great first step is to schedule a complimentary consultation. It’s an opportunity for you to share with us what you’re looking for in an advisory relationship, and to see if we’re the right advisors for you.
