Background

Growing up in southwest Washington as the youngest of three children in a very competitive family, I learned early on that knowledge, planning and work are the keys to success, and the importance of listening.

As a kid, I was gifted a few shares of stock, and my youthful curiosity about investing has become a lifelong passion.

After high school, I was admitted to the University of Washington, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, and also competed on the Huskies’ track and field team as a high jumper (and team captain).

The fundamental lessons that I learned growing up have guided me throughout my professional career. They’ve helped me to build strong, personal relationships with my clients, better understand what’s important to them, and develop personalized financial plans that help them achieve financial security and success.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and an Enrolled Agent (which authorizes me to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service), I’m able to provide Springwater’s clients with tax guidance as a part of an advisory relationship.

I’m a member of several professional organizations, including the Garrett Planning Network, and have taught the rigorous Retirement Income tax course for H&R Block tax professionals, as well as courses on Employee Stock Plan Compensation, Restricted Stock Units, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and Non-Qualified Options.

My wife Abby and I live in Beaverton, Oregon with four very active school-age boys, for whom I volunteer as a baseball, soccer and basketball coach. Family, church, and work fill my very fortunate life.
